Alene Bessie Denney, age 87 of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, September 03, 2016 at the Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Independence. Burial will follow in the Neodesha City Cemetery under the direction of the Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Visitation hours will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to the First Christian Church in Independence and the contributions may be left at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Alene Bessie Denney was born May 9, 1929 in Jasper County, Missouri to A.H. and Marie (Harmon) Coss. She grew up in Jasper County, Missouri attending the Rosebank Country School. Alene moved to Neodesha, Kansas where she graduated High School in 1947 on the Honor Roll.
On August 22, 1948 Alene married Dean A. Denney. Alene was a homemaker, expert seamstress, and loved to make dresses for dolls and had an extensive collection. She also collected Hull Pottery, liked to tend her flowers, was very kind, always had a smile, very genuine, was a good cook and baker. Over the years she was very active in church being a deacon and worship leader.
Survivors include her husband Dean of the home; two sons Ron and wife Susan Denney and Ken and wife DeeAnn Denney; one brother Verlie Coss; Grandchildren Brian Denney, Kathy Seitz, Carolyn Viets, Andria Flowers, Melissa Denney and Mark Denney and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Donald Denney and one brother Buford Coss.
