Alice Louise (Lange) Linn, 86, went home to her Lord and Savior on October 29, 2024 in Lawrenceburg, IN. She was born December 2, 1937 in Independence, Kansas to Louis B. Lange and Esther O. (Ruehling) Lange. She grew up in Independence and graduated from Independence High School in 1955. On November 20, of that same year, she was united in marriage to Norman E. Linn, her husband of 61 years, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Independence.
Alice was employed by Sinclair Oil Company and Zion Lutheran Church. She was a devoted member of the church and along with being employed as the church secretary, she also served on numerous committees and organizations there throughout her life. She was also active in the Steven Ministries Organization. She was a kind and compassionate person and could always see the good in everyone and everything.
Her proudest moments were when she was raising her family and being a homemaker. She loved to plant flowers and help with the garden she and Norman had on their farm. Writing poems to friends and family for special occasions was one of her passions. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and later collected her favorite recipes, making cook books for each of her grandchildren to cherish. Other hobbies included traveling with Norman after retirement, taking pictures and scrapbooking, crocheting and playing the piano. Her life was truly a living example of a favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.”
Alice is survived by her daughter, Kathy Thomison and husband Bill of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and son, Tommy Linn and wife Terri of Platte City, Missouri. Other survivors include two sisters, Bernice Ringeisen of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Sylvia Akin of Overland Park, Kansas. She will be forever remembered by her five grandchildren; Christopher Thomison and wife Emily, Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Elizabeth Westbrook and husband Chasen, Prospect, Kentucky; Jessica Thomison, Covington, Kentucky; Tempest Snyder and husband Chris, Parkville, Missouri; and Toby Linn, Lincoln, Nebraska. Eight Beloved Great Grandchildren; Harper, Aubrey, and Maven Westbrook; Wyatt, Murphy, and Kennedy Thomison; and Micah and Theo Snyder. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Linn, son Randy Linn and grandson Billy Ross Thomison.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Independence, Kansas. The family suggests donations to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School in lieu of flowers.
Alice’s legacy of kindness, compassion and love will forever reside in our hearts. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and generous nature and will continue to be an inspiration to the many lives she touched.
