Billy Ray Padley, 81, Independence, Kansas passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at home. Cremation has taken place and a joint Memorial Celebration of Life Service for Bill, and his beloved wife Shirley "Nana" Padley will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Neodesha City Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Bill may be made to AWOL and may be left with the chapel.
Bill was born October 18, 1940, in Independence, Kansas to Carl and Mary (Gross) Padley. He attended and graduated from Independence High School in 1958. Following his education Bill enlisted into the United States Air Force serving from 1959 to 1967. Bill married Shirley Patchin on January 14, 1961, in Neodesha, Kansas. Bill was employed with BNSF Railroad for 30 years as a Roadmaster until his retirement. Bill is a member of the First Christian Church and recently served as the Township Treasurer for Independence and is a member of Mr. Shifter Car Club. His hobbies include working on antique cars, attending car shows, four wheeling, gardening, and birdwatching. Bill will be remembered as a happy, positive, loving, beloved, and outgoing person.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, one sister Carol Sullivan, one brother, Bobby Joe Padley, son, Corky Padley, and granddaughter Scout Fowler. Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Jim Padley and wife Myrna, daughter, Autumn Padley-Fowler, and husband Jeff Fowler of the home, four grandchildren, Jeffery Fowler Gainesville, TX; Shaina Padley, Pensacola, FL; Kansas Padley-Perez and husband Augustin Perez, Pensacola, FL; Josh Williams, Pensacola, FL; and many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and extended family.
