Lifelong Independence resident, Bobby Joe Winebrenner, 75, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021. A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 29th at 2:30 pm at Webb and Rodrick Chapel.
Gerald and Myrtle (Eades) Winebrenner welcomed their son Bobby Joe Winebrenner on August 23, 1946, in Independence, Kansas. On June 4th, 1966, Bobby married Sharon Brown at the First Baptist Church in Independence. The two enjoyed 46 years of marriage until her passing on June 23rd, 2012. Bobby joined the United States Air Force in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1967. Bobby retired from Emerson Electric after 24 years of employment. After retirement, Bobby just couldn’t sit still. He and his son Randy, owned and operated B&R Construction for 5 years. He then went to work at Cobalt Boats for 5 years. During this time, he also worked at the Kansas Wildlife and Parks as a camp host and maintenance supervisor for 17 years. Through the years, Bobby loved to fish, hunt, play golf and pool, ride 4-wheelers, dancing and going country cruising, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Myrtle Winebrenner, wife, Sharon (Brown) Winebrenner, son, Randy Winebrenner, brother, Jimmie Winebrenner, and sister, Pat Burton.
Bobby’s memory will carry on with his sons, Rusty Winebrenner, and Ricky (Shannon) Winebrenner, daughters, Bobbie Jo Henry, Melissa Winebrenner, and Shawn Serrata, brothers, Jerry (Becky) Winebrenner, and Dean Surrett, sisters, Dorothy Beck, Joyce (Donald) Brown, and Martha (Terry) Burns, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
