Carl A. Guyll, 88, Independence, Kansas passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Independence, with Reverend Terry Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., in Yates Center, KS. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 12:00 noon 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving guest from 5:00 7:00 p.m., at the Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church and may be left with the Chapel. Carl was born February 8, 1926 to Arthur and Cora Elizabeth Hunt Guyll in Toronto, Kansas. Carl attended and graduated from Toronto Schools. Following graduation Carl was employed by Standard Oil Refinery until he was drafted into the United States Army serving in WWII following his service in the Army Carl returned to work for Standard Oil until he was Drafted a second time to serve in the Korean War following his service the second time Carl returned back to Kansas where on November 13, 1955 he married Maralyn J. Culbertson Guyll in Yates Center, KS. The couple made their home in Eldorado where Carl was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture in Soil Conservation. While in Eldorado a son Carl G. was welcomed into the family. In 1962 the family moved to Liberal, KS for Carl to continue his employment with the U.S.D.A. while in Liberal a daughter Carol Ann was also welcomed into the family. In 1978 the family decided to make Independence their home. Carl was an active 36 year member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed gardening in his spare time. Carl was precede in death by his parents, two brothers, Roy and Glen Guyll, his wife Maralyn, and a daughter Carol Ann. Survivors include his son Carl G. Guyll, Independence, KS Arrangements by Webb Rodrick Chapel and Crematory.
