Carrie Ann Hill Delano Bacon, 45, of Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory, with burial to follow in the Lutheran Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28th, 1:00-7:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends and family 5:00-7:00pm. Memorials are suggested to AWOL and may be left with the chapel.
Carrie was born July 17, 1975 In Winfield, Kansas to David and Susan (Harclerode) Hill. The family moved to Independence, KS in 1980. Carrie attended Zion Lutheran School and then attended Independence High School, graduating in 1993. Following her graduation from high school, Carrie attended and graduated from Independence Community College with her Associates of Science degree in 1996. She then attended and graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1997, with a Bachelors degree in Social Work. She was employed as a Foster Care Social Worker with Kaw Valley Center, Permanency Social Worker with TCI Family Services, Social Services / Admissions at Windsor Place, and served as one of the early directors of Community Access Center, until numerous health problems prevented her from continuing to working.
Carrie married Shawn C. Delano in 1993. A son Shawn D. Delano was born to this union and the couple later divorced. Carrie married Terry A. Bacon Sr., June 29, 2002 in Independence, Kansas. At that time the two families joined together and moved to Cherryvale, Kansas with their three children: T. J., Shawn and Rachel. Shortly after the family moved to Ft. Hood, Texas until Terry retired from the Army in 2005 then the family moved back to Independence, Kansas.
Carrie was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church of Independence, Kansas. Carrie was loved by many and was a giving, kind and caring person who opened her heart and home to many people providing loving support. She loved animals and to find forever homes for rescued animals.
She was a loving wife and mother and even through declining health, she was able to provide loving care to her grandmother and aunt in their final days.
Carrie was preceded in death by grandparents, Martha and Robert Hill, Marilyn and Harold Haclerode, uncle Daniel Hill, aunt Terry Hill Snyder, in-laws Donald and Celeste Bacon. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Terry Bacon, of the home; her three children, Terry (T.J) Bacon Jr. (Salem Starr) Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Shawn D. (Rihanna) Delano, Lamar, Missouri; and Rachel Elizabeth Bacon, Manhattan, Kansas; her parents, David and Susan Hill, two brothers, Greg (Gwen) Hill, Aurora, Colorado, Scott (Jennifer) Hill, Wichita, Kansas, and many extended family members and her dogs Scout, Brownie, Max, and Fisher.
