Chance Hunter Dean Short, a beacon of kindness and creativity, was born on June 27, 1996, in Guymon, Oklahoma. Tragically, his journey with us was cut short when he passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2025. The news of his leaving has left a hole in the hearts of those who knew him, yet his spirit remains alive in the joyful memories he created during his time with us.
Chance was a true jack of all trades, navigating life’s challenges with a gentle heart and a skilled hand. He never had any formal training, but when it came to fixing cars, computers, or anything in between, his friends knew he was the go-to person. He successfully balanced running his own business alongside his work at a fiberglass manufacturing plant, showcasing his incredible work ethic and resilience.
A loving son, devoted father, and cherished partner, Chance held his family close to his heart. Whether he was inviting his beloved mom, BJ Short, to join him on shooting excursions or creating lasting memories with his son, Atlas Bo Short, his love for them was evident in all he did. His girlfriend Savanna English and step-daughter Raylen, along with siblings Damion Combs, Star Daffern, and Billie Courtney, were fortunate to have felt the warmth of his affection and kindness.
Though the loss of Chance is heart-wrenching, those who remain are comforted by visions of his laughter and the joyous moments spent together. Chance would not want his family and friends to succumb to sadness for too long; he would encourage them to focus on the love they shared, the memories made, and the laughter that filled their lives.
He left behind the memory of a kind soul who touched the lives of so many. He is now reunited in spirit with his beloved grandparents, Barbara and Bill Short, as well as his aunts, Ronda Gonzalez and Janie Lawrence.
As we reflect on Chance’s life, we are reminded of his gentle spirit and profound love, carrying forth his legacy of laughter and joy.
