Clarence E. Bowers, Jr. 68, of Elk City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Robert J. Dole V.A. Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be made to The American Heat Association or the Elk City Senior Community Building Fund and may be left with the chapel.
Mr. Bowers was born April 18, 1950 in Independence, Kansas to Clarence E. and Georgia F, (Cox) Bowers. He attended Elk City, Kansas Schools and graduated in 1968. Mr. Bowers joined the United States Army and served from 1969-1972 and from 1973-1981 he received an Honorable Discharge. Mr. Bowers married Jeanette Boettcher (Buchanan) on June 27, 1998 in Elk City, Kansas. Mr. Bowers was a talented woodworker and made several wood toys.
Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Bettie Lee Allen brother in law Don Allen Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Jeanette of the home, one stepdaughter, Jeanell Lieueance, Shawnee, Kansas; one step son, Jamie Atwell, Spring Hill, Kansas; three step granddaughters, Malia, Brindle, Cecily Lieuence, two sisters, Edeana Jeanette ( Tom) Vollmer, Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Edwina Janeice ( Bud) Meador, Elk City, Kansas, there brother in laws, Johnny Buchanan, Alta Vista, Kansas; Cecil (Irene), Buchanan, Altoona, Kansas; Allan (Anita) Buchanan, Neodesha, Kansas; three nephews Michael ( Amy) Vollmer, Christopher Meador, Connor Steele and four nieces Alexandra Steele, Catherine Vollmer, Ethel Ann (Bryan) Steele, Isabel Steele, and many extended family.
