Clarice Morea Puryear, age 89, of Independence, Kansas died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Eagle Estates in Independence, Kansas.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Pastor Darren Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Friends may sign the online register at www.webbrodrickchapel.com. The family has suggested memorials to the First Church of the Nazarene or to the Eagle Estates Activity Fund and contributions may be left at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Clarice Morea Puryear was born May 1, 1926 in Doniphan, Missouri to Jerome B. and Amanda (Martin) Sutherland. Clarice attended Rural Elementary school in Ripley County, Missouri.
On February 9, 1950 Clarice married George Puryear in Doniphan, Missouri. The couple moved to Independence, Kansas in 1955 and owned and operated George Shoe Center at 114 N. Penn and Shoe Land at 317 N. Penn. Clarice also owned and operated Clarices Beauty Salon for over 20 years and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: her husband George of Independence, three sons Rick and wife Debbie Puryear of Joplin, Missouri, Don and wife Shelly Puryear of Overland Park, Kansas and Lanny and wife Cheryl Puryear of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; four grandchildren George Robert Anthony and wife Julie Puryear, Sierra Dawn Puryear, Ethan Puryear and Hannah Puryear; and four great grandchildren. Clarice was preceded in death by six siblings.
