David Howard Blex
God united David Howard Blex with his heavenly family on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. His parents Marilyn and Chuck Blex and sister Jolene were waiting with open arms to greet him at Heavens door.
David was born June 2, 1953 in Independence, Kansas to Marilyn (Mensch) and Charles Blex. David grew up in a loving home. He was active in 4-H and Independence Saddle Club. He used to be a cowboy. He had a love of guns and hunting. At family reunions it was always stories of who had gotten the biggest one. He had many hobbies that included walking, plinking targets, fishing and grilling. He made some of the best brisket around.
David graduated in 1971 from Independence High School. After finishing high school he went to work for Automotive Control Cooperation which is now Standard Motors. David was employed there for over 48 years.
He was an avid mushroom hunter. Each spring he could be found out hunting and keeping a spreadsheet of how many mushrooms he found. Working with numbers was a gift to David. He was often referred to as the “Human Calculator.” David had an adventurous side and enjoyed traveling.
David married Patricia McGrew in 1983 and had three children. They later divorced and then David married Wynona Frazier. David was loved and will be missed by his loving wife Wynona, son Joshua Blex, Ashley and husband Clint Golay and daughter Chrystal Blex. David loved his grandchildren with all his heart: Kayla, Tatiana, Quayland, Garrett, Abigail, Zoe, Harper and Mia. He will also be missed by Wynona's children Megan and husband Brian Caulkins and son Michael Stephens and his sister JoAnn and husband Mike Price, his niece Carrie and husband Jeff Stimple and great niece and nephew Drake and Jentry.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 2:00-6:00 pm at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home in Independence. Graveside funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 10:00 am at Fawn Creek Cemetery, Tyro, KS.
