David Alan Sack, age 72, of Springdale Arkansas died January 14, 2015 in an accident on his way home from work. David was born March 28, 1942 to Albert and Virginia (Pitts) Sack in Independence, Kansas.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, January 20th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21st at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
He attended and received his diploma from Independence High school in 1960. After school he proudly joined the Air Force. David attended college at ICC and then went on to Pittsburg State University graduating in 1970. On June 8, 1968 David was united in marriage to Kathryn G. Troutman, she preceded him in death in 2003. After college he worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Missouri. In 1978 they returned to Independence where he joined the Sack Construction with his father and brothers.
David served in the local Boy Scouts of America for 25 years in various positions and projects, including building the pinewood derby track, Neewoallah bandstand, delivering ice to vendors every year, and also helped build the sets for the play.
In 2007 he married Becky Bishop in Springdale, Arkansas and they made their home there. He began working part-time at Walmart where he continued until his death.
David's survivors include his wife; Becky Sack of the home, his mother; Virginia Sack of Independence, KS, his son; Jason Sack of Kansas City; two brothers; Michael Sack of Houston, TX and Stephen Sack of Neodesha, KS as well as one sister; Toni Thomas of Coffeyville, KS. His step-children; Mary Workman of Farmington, Arkansas, Angie Davis of Mountainville, Arkansas and David Burger of Bentonville, Arkansas and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; Albert Sack.
