David Alison Tweedie
Mr. Tweedie left this life Saturday, February 19th 2022. He was born October 28th, 1940 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Virtes and Madeline Wadman Tweedie. He served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1962-1982. After his service in the military, he returned home to Independence, Kansas where he worked at Prestige Cabinets, before retiring in 2005. After retirement he worked in the Independence Country Club pro shop. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Diane Lovett, and his former spouse, Sharon Bryant Tweedie.
Survivors include his children, Alan (Cynthia) Tweedie and Robert Mackenzie from Alabama; Lori (Keith) Hofstrom, and Connie (Steve) Greer from Kansas; his grandchildren Alan Tweedie II, Jessie Tweedie, Alyson (Jonathan) Holmes, Blake Tweedie, Landon Tweedie, and Aden Tweedie from Somerville, Alabama; Hayleigh (Chad) Stanford, Hilary Chapman, Heather (Matt) Boss, Alysha (Brad) Boggs, and Stevie (Katie) Greer from Independence; 7 great-grandchildren; and his former spouse Mary Sanders Passauer.
Mr. Tweedie was a member of the Independence Country Club for many years where he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his many friends. He also enjoyed watching and attending the Alabama Crimson Tide football games with his son Alan and watching the University of Kansas Jayhawk basketball games.
Funeral services for David Alison Tweedie, 81, of Independence will be Saturday, February 26th, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Webb and Rodrick Chapel in Independence, Kansas with Bill Booe officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25th with the family greeting friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Webb and Rodrick Chapel. The family has requested in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution be made in David’s name to IHS Athletics for the golf team.
