Dean Adrian Denney, 89, of Independence, Kansas passed away the morning of January 11, 2018 at his home with family by his side. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel with family from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The memorial service for Dean will take place 10:00 am., Monday, January 15, 2018 at The First Christian Church of Independence, Kansas. Burial will follow in Neodesha Cemetery, Neodesha, Kansas. Memorials in Dean's name are suggested to the Cancer Center of Kansas of Independence or The First Christian Church. Dean Adrian Denney was born December 9, 1928 in Neodesha, Kansas to George Ott Denney and Florence Harriet Denney (Smith). He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1947. Dean met Alene Bessie Coss, the two fell in love and married on August 22, 1948. To this union three sons were born, Ron, Ken, and Don Denney. Dean earned his living for 18 years working at the Neodesha Refinery, then the Okmulgee Refinery, and finally Ball Glass Plant from which he retired in 1994. Dean was also a Member of Harmony Lodge #94 AF & AM in Neodesha, Kansas. And a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge.
His retirement activities included involvement with his family, gardening, fishing, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He and his family loved playing family board and card games, dominoes and particularly Canasta. Dean was also well known for his passionate opinions and lively debates on topics ranging from sports to politics.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Alene; a son, Don; sisters, Lorna Croll, Wilma Dickens, Opal Turner; and brothers, Harold Denney, Ivan Denney, Lyle Denney, Marvin Denney, and George Denney II.
Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Ron (wife Susan) Denney, Independence, KS, Ken (wife DeeAnn) Denney, Crosby, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Denney, Houston, TX, Andria Flowers, Crosby, TX, Kathleen Seitz, Pittsburg, Ks., Mark Denney, Wellsville, KS, Brian Denney, Independence, KS, Carolyn Viets, Independence, Ks. ; and 12 great grandchildren.
