Diana Lee Compton

Diana Lee Compton, 60, Independence, Kansas passed away at Labette Health in Independence, Kansas on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday. January 2, 2025 with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. The family will greet visitors on Thursday from 12 noon until service time. Memorials may be made to AWOL and may be left with the chapel.

Diana was born March 1, 1964 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Donald Lee and Della (May) Hallum. The family moved to Udall, Kansas before returning to Independence, Kansas where Diana attended Independence Middle School and graduated from Independence High School. Following her high school education, she attended Independence Community College and then went on to attend Missouri Southern receiving her bachelor’s degree in 1992.

Diana married Bobby Compton on October 8, 1996 in Eureka Springs Arkansas the couple lived in Miami, Oklahoma until 1999 when they settled in Independence, Kansas. Diana was employed for Four County Mental Health for 25 years before her passing. Diana loved her kids and grandchildren; she would often take the grandchildren on adventures. She enjoyed fishing and her dog’s and cat’s.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, those left to cherish her memory include her husband Bobby of the home, three son’s LeRoy Compton, Independence, KS; Brad ( Kimberly) Compton, Independence, KS; Hunter Compton, Independence, KS; one daughter Christa ( Erik) Blagg, Caney, KS; one sister, Debbie Radcliff, Wichita, KS; six grandchildren, Derrick Vance, Kaden Blagg, Bryson Schiler, Elijah Blagg, Makensi Blagg, and Gracelyn Compton.
