Donald Charles Demo, 87, of Independence, KS passed away Tuesday, July 10 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK of natural causes. He was born January 16, 1931 in Wichita, KS to Charles and Bessie "Irene" Turner Demo. He graduated
From El Dorado High School and El Dorado Junior College. He attended Wichita State University until he joined the army.
Don married Donna Mae Adamson on August 31, 1952. She survives at home. He grew up learning the family beer and produce business. He began running Demo Sales in 1952 and in addition ran the Culligan soft water business along with having rental property. He was a board member of the Coutt's Museum of Art, the El Dorado school board and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in El Dorado.
Don and Donna raised four children and in 1977 moved to Independence and purchased Best Beverage Sales and opened Demo Storage. In Independence he was a member of the Church of Epiphany Episcopal, the Independence Historical Museum and Arts Center, Dry Holes Investment Club, the Independence Masons, Mirza Shrine and Optimists.
Don enjoyed being the "Bud Man" and the friendships he made with the family of wholesalers. He continued to come to work up to 6 weeks ago. He also enjoyed traveling with Donna and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog Sophie.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Dustin Demo.
Surviving family includes: Dianna (Eddie) Dean, Dan (Joyce) Demo, Dalinda (Craig) Hamilton, all of El Dorado, and Drew (Janet) Demo of Independence. Don has 17 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 13, 6 PM to 8 PM at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home and Crematory, 306 W. Main, Independence. Services will be held Saturday, July 14, 10 AM at the Church of Epiphany, Episcopal, 400 E. Maple, Independence. A Celebration of Life for Don will be held also July 14 at 3 PM at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 400 W. Ash, El Dorado. Family burial will be held at 5 PM at Bella Vista Cemetery in El Dorado.
