Donna R. Rexwinkle, 82, Independence, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at First Southern Baptist Church of Independence. The family will greet visitors on Friday from 12:00 noon until service time. Burial will follow in Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church or the Independence Garden Club and may be left with the chapel.
Donna was born August 26, 1937 to Ted and Audrey (Watt) Storm in rural Edna, Kansas. She attend and graduated from Edna, Kansas Schools. On December 28, 1953 Donna married Charles Rexwinkle in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in rural Edna, Oklahoma until Charles enlisted into the United States Army and Donna tagged along. The couple lived in Texas, Alaska, Coffeyville, Kansas rural Edna, Kansas before settling in Independence, Kansas in 1990. Donna was a homemaker while raising her children and in 1984 Charles and Donna bought SEKTAM of Independence where she served as bookkeeper until the couple sold the business in 2003. In her retirement years Donna was very active in the local AARP Chapter going to the monthly lunches and taking friends, she was also active in the Independence Garden Club. Donna has also been a member of and volunteered for the First Southern Baptist Church since 1995.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Leo Storm, and one sister, Maxine Rosson. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, Charles of the home, one son, Curtis (SunLi) Rexwinkle of Independence, Kansas, two daughters, Brenda (Dwight) Cooper of rural Edna, Kansas, Pam (Dale) McDaniel of Neodesha, Kansas, one sister, Darlene (Ronald) Buchanan of Mineral Wells, Texas, five grandchildren: Abbie (Adam) Stratton of Jasper, Missouri, Kally (Tyler) Lewis of Wichita, Kansas, Luke McDaniel of Denver, Colorado, Cyarra and Lianna Rexwinkle, both of Independence, Kansas, and four great grandchildren: Cooper, Ellie, Owen and Anniston.
