Doris Tallent

Doris G. Tallent, age 90, of Independence, Kansas died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory with Pastor Kenny Richards officiating.

Doris G. Tallent was born December 16, 1924 to Ora Dell and Mary L. (Warner) McCarty in Elk City, Kansas. She grew up in Elk City, Kansas and graduated from the Elk City High School in 1942 as Valedictorian.

On December 19, 1942 Doris married Weldon Buchanan. The couple later divorced. In December of 1987 Doris married Rainy Tallent and they later divorced. Doris worked in the homemaker program at SRS in Fredonia, Kansas until retiring in 1988.

Survivors include three sons Johnny Buchanan of Alta Vista, Kansas, Cecil Buchanan of Altoona, Kansas, and Allan Buchanan of Neodesha, Kansas; one daughter Jeanette Bowers of Elk City, Kansas; one sister Juanita Newton of Elk City, Kansas; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother and one grandchild Scott Buchanan.
