Dorothy Lane

Dorothy Randall Lane, 85, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas. Services will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory in Independence, Kansas. A burial will take place at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 in Woodland Cemetery in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Dorothy was born July 27, 1932 in Nashua, New Hampshire to Leroy A. and Mary Edna (Erbe) Randall. Dorothy graduated from Nashua schools and attended college there as well. Dorothy then enlisted in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Lieutenant, and serving as a flight nurse. Dorothy married Alfred Leon (Shady) Lane in Nashua, New Hampshire in 1958. The couple were both enlisted in the Air Force and moved to several Air Force bases before ending up in Wichita, Kansas where Dorothy received her Masters in Nursing and was employed by the Veterans Administration. Dorothy and Alfred divorced and Dorothy accepted a traveling position with the Veterans Administration opening new hospitals. Dorothy retired from the Veterans Administration in 2003 and moved to Independence, Kansas to be with her family.
Dorothy loved traveling, being a nurse, and her pets. She traveled extensively around the United States, always driving. Her favorite moments were when she took her grandchildren on trips, particularly their high school graduation trips.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Wesley Randall (Randy) Lane and wife Pamela Sue Lane, Independence, Kansas; three grandchildren: April Jones and husband Andrew, Pierce City, MO; Heidi Lane, Lawton, OK; Jessi Randall Lane and wife Katie, Gardner, KS; four great- grandchildren, Garin Cole, Remington Jones, Delilah Jones, and August Randall Lane.
