Douglas Maxwell

Douglas Leon Maxwell, 81, Independence, Kansas passed away at home on Friday, December 9, 2016. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Doug's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice or The First Presbyterian Church and may be left with the Chapel.
Doug was born October 12, 1935 in Altamont, Kansas to Glenn Vernon and Dorothea Alice (Douglas) Maxwell. Doug attended and graduated from Altamont, Kansas Schools. Doug married Beverley Gale Hatfield on May 25, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their home in Independence, Kansas where Doug was employed as a Systems Analyst for ARCO Pipeline until his retirement in 1990. Doug was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 50 plus years.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one son Steven Gregg Maxwell, a grandson, Ian William Maxwell Tuthill, and two brothers, Larry Maxwell and Bill Maxwell. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Beverly of the home, one son, Michael David (Tina) Maxwell, one daughter, Beth Ellen ( Wes) Tuthill, five grandchildren, April Beth (Justin) Gruigen, Evan Douglas Tuthill, Jennifer Leanne (Lane) Grimes, Jessica Kate Maxwell, Julia Marie Maxwell, one great-grandchild, Jade Elle Gruigen, one brother, Don E. (Ileene) Maxwell, and one brother-in-law William "Terry" Terrell (Linda) Hatfield,
