Ellie Tetrick, 85 of Deer Park, Texas, left this world for Heaven on December 23, 2014 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband Harold, of the home, family, and friends. Ellie was born in Independence, Kansas on February 19, 1929 to Bertram and Ida Belle Born Sharpe. She grew up in Independence and graduated from Independence High School in 1947. She attended Independence Junior College and worked at Newkirk Insurance, Sinclair Oil, and Union Gas. She was a member of The First Christian Church for many years and attended the Nazarene Church in Independence. Most recently she and Harold were members at the South Main Baptist Church, Pasadena, Texas. She loved singing in the choir. She had been a member of the Child Study Club, Red Hat Society, Bell Choir, Joy Group and multiple bridge clubs. She and Harold loved to play cards with friends.
Ellie and Harold, childhood friends, were married September 2, 2000 in Pasadena, Texas. Her children include Bob and Sharon Lewis, St. Charles, Missouri Bill and Karen Lewis, David and Laurie Lewis, Lincoln, Nebraska Rob and Cindy Saunders, Pasadena, Texas and Tom and Traci Johnston, Clear Lake, Texas. She has a stepdaughter Terry Nelson, Des Plaines, Illinois. Grandchildren include Brent Lewis, David and Lindsay Schertzer, William Lewis, Sean and Christy Vontz, Paul and Carrie Zeiger, Kirstie Lewis, Chase Saunders, Regan Saunders, Stan Dillon, Dalton Dillon, and a stepgranddaughter Lauren Nelson. There are also 9 Great Grandchildren. Ellie has one sister, Millie Sands of Independence.
Ellie was married to Stanley Lewis on September 5, 1948 in Independence. They moved to Houston in 1993. A loving husband and father, Stanley passed away on January 2, 1994. Her parents, along with three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
The family will celebrate her life with graveside service at Mount Hope Cemetery on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darren Melton presiding over the service. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, January 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Webb Rodrick Chapel Crematory. After a family luncheon, friends may visit the family at Millie Sands home at 2801 Country Club Circle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to South Main Baptist Church, 4300 East Sam Houston Parkway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. A memorial service will be held at South Main Baptist Church, Pasadena, Texas at a later date.
Her life is being celebrated as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and loving friend. She loved the Lord and will spend eternity with Him. She remained a classy lady until the end and we all will miss her greatly.
