Ethan J. Temple, 93, Independence, Kansas passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may register from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. On Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory the family will be receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chapel. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 S. 5th Street, Independence, Kansas 67301, with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Memorial may be made to The First Presbyterian Church Preschool or Deacons Fund and may be left with the chapel.
Ethan J. Temple was born September 29, 1923 in Richland County, Ohio to Ethan H. and Mary A. (Carter) Temple. Ethan attended and graduated from York Center High School in 1941. Following High School Ethan enlisted in the United States Army and served in European Theater of Operations in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. Following his discharge from the Army, Ethan married Naomi Ruth Good on November 15, 1947 in Marion, Ohio the couple then moved to Independence, Kansas where Ethan was employed by Arco Pipe Line Company as a Supervisor of Measurement and Loss Control. Naomi preceded Ethan in death on April 24, 1996, Ethan later married Elsa May Webb on February 24, 2001 she preceded Ethan in death on February 26, 2007. Ethan is a longtime member of The First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. Ethan is also a member of Independence Historical Museum, Independence Chamber of Commerce, and Optimist Club International.
Ethan was preceded in death by his parents, two wives Naomi Ruth and Elsa May, one daughter Cathy Jean Temple. Survivors include one son, Randall W. and wife Trudi Temple, El Dorado, Kansas and one granddaughter, Heather Naomi Temple, El Dorado, Kansas.
