Florence Weaver

Florence Maurine Weaver, 95, Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at The First United Methodist Church Gault Hall Chapel. Friends may register on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel with the family receiving friends form 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Elk Falls Cemetery in Elk Falls, Kansas. Memorials may be made to Labette Health Foundation and may be mailed to Labette Health 1902 South U.S. Highway 59, Parsons, Kansas 67357 or may be left with the chapel.

Maurine was born January 10, 1924 in Elk Falls, Kansas to Daniel G. and Florence (Bennitt) Jones. Maurine attended and graduated from Elk Falls Kansas Schools. Following her education Maurine married Kenneth D. Weaver in November of 1949. The couple made their home on a farm in Elk Falls, Kansas until the family moved to Independence, Kansas in 1960. Maurine was employed by Mercy Hospital for 25 years until her retirement she was also a 59-year member of The First United Methodist Church. Maurine enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, needle work, and embroidery. She will be remembered as a hardworking and very independent woman.

Maurine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, an infant daughter, Sharon Weaver, and one brother, Roland Jones. Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Kenneth Weaver, Independence, Kansas, Martin (Cindi) Weaver, Independence, Kansas, Larry (Loida) Weaver, Olympia, Washington, three grandchildren, Sarah (Bill) Shanks, Nixa, Missouri, Stacy (Andrew) Tyrrell, Lake Tapps, Washington, Tara and fiancé Patrick Zacharias, St. George, Grenada.
