Freda Blankinship

Freda L. (Overton) Blankinship, 93, Independence, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Freda's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Independence Friends Church, 507 North 11th Street, Independence, Kansas with Pastor John Penrose officiating. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society and may be left with the chapel.
Freda was born January 21, 1924 in Independence, Kansas to Charles Arthur and Mae (Eisler) Overton. Freda attended and graduated from the Independence schools. She married Reno Vern Blankinship March 14, 1942. The couple made their home in Independence.
The couple owned and operated Reno and Freda's Beauty Shop for 40 years in Independence. Freda was a Mercy Hospital volunteer for 25+ years and a mentor at Washington School.
Freda attended Zion Lutheran Church and Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Reno, one son, Romanko Lee Blankinship, three brothers, Arthur, Charles, Howard Overton and one sister Utha (Overton) Klumpp. Survivors include: one son Thomas Arthur (Manuela) Blankinship, Dearborn, Michigan; one daughter, Renita (Blankinship) Butler, Independence, Kansas; six grandchildren, Patrick Blankinship, Litchfield Park, Arizonia, Brenda B. (Jose) Gonzales, Litchfield Park, Arizona, Jeffrey Jahn Butler, Forrest Park, California, Brian, Eric and Nikolas Blankinship, Dearborn, Michigan; four great-grandchildren, Jose Romanko, Sierra, Jacob and Sophia Gonzales.
Arrangements have been made by Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory.
