Gary D. Brawley, age 51, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at his residence in Independence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Webb Rodrick Chapel with Pastor Lenny Hisey of Cherokee Hills Christian Church in Oklahoma City presiding, burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Webb Rodrick Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Judes Childrens Hospital and memorials may be left at the Chapel.
Gary was born July 26, 1962 in Hobbs, New Mexico, the son of Nathaniel A. Brawley, Sr. and Corinne Morrow Brawley. He was a 1980 graduate of Lenapah High School where he had been active in sports as well as being an officer in FFA, right after high school he had worked at ParMac. He had been employed with the road department for Montgomery County. Gary was a member of First Baptist Church in South Coffeyville, OK. He loved motorcycles, fishing, tormenting his mother, had a great sense of humor, called his parents daily at 6:00 p.m., loved playing jokes, loved his family and children. His was an avid motorcyclist participating in Toys for Tots and various bike runs. He also raised money for St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Nathaniel and Corinne Brawley of Texhoma, OK daughter: Jessica Ann Brawley of Coffeyville, a stepson: David Gatton of Mason, TX, grandchildren: Rylee, Michael, Jr., and Kaden. He is also survived by his sisters: Sheila Kitterman Jack of South Coffeyville, OK and Rhonda Walker John of Moline, KS as well as brother: Steve Brawley Tona of Independence, KS and halfbrothers: Nat Brawley, Jr. Daureen of Keys, OK and Larry Brawley Robyn of Eufaula, OK and nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents and GreatNiece Brandy.
