Hilda Elaine (Johnson) Clem, 84, passed away in Independence, Kansas on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
Hilda was brought into this world the only child of Frank Henry and Mary Elizabeth Johnson on March 30, 1936 in Washington DC. Hilda attended and graduated from high school in Washington DC. She then married Marvin Clem in Maryland in 1963. In 1970, Marvin and Hilda moved their family to Elk City to make their home. Hilda worked as a cook for USD 446 for 19 years before retiring. Hilda was an active member of the First Christian Church in Elk City for 50 years. She loved to volunteer her time helping at the church. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and word finds, but most of all she adored her grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with each and every one of them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Henry and Mary Elizabeth Johnson, husband Marvin Clem, and sons, Edward Clem and Marvin Wayne Clem Jr.
Hilda is survived by her daughters, Mary Jane and husband Kenneth Beougher of Sedan, Donna Pinales of Independence, and Sandy and husband Greg of Georgia, 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Visitation will take place at Webb and Rodrick Chapel on Monday, September 7th from 6:30 pm to 8:30pm. Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church of Elk City, Kansas with Pastor Randy Beeman officiating on Tuesday, September 8th at 10:00 am.
