Hilda Christine Thompson of Independence, KS, entered the Kingdom of Heaven, surrounded by family, on April 21, 2015. She was 84 years old. Memorial services will be held graveside at 1pm on Friday April 24, 2015 at Mount Hope Cemetery, with Mercy Chaplin Jason Sperling officiating. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm Thursday April 23, 2015 at Webb& Rodrick Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
Christine was the daughter of Fred G and Emma Lou (Pentecost) Sullivan. She was born March 26, 1931 in Greenville, KY where she received her education and married Ellis J Thompson on October 28, 1950. "Chris" was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She worked as a telephone operator, store manager, and was co-owner of Thompson Drilling for 20 years. She had resided in Independence since 1968.
Chris is survived by one sister, Ann Pittman of Central City, KY three daughters; Beverly Thompson of Neodesha, KS, Vickie Cooper of Georgetown, TX, and Fay (Barry) Whitfield of Elk City, KS, Two Grandchildren; Jo Anna Stubblefield of Georgetown, TX and Anthony Whitfield of Elk City, KS, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis, her parents, four brothers, three sisters and one grandchild Christy Mayes. Arrangements have been entrusted to Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
