K. Irene (Beurskens) Blundell, 101, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends at Webb and Rodrick Chapel in Independence, KS on Thursday, March 31st from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Reciting of the Rosary will follow at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Neodesha, KS on Friday, April 1st at 2:00 pm with burial immediately following at Neodesha Cemetery.
Irene was born in Neodesha, Kansas on December 23, 1920, to Christian H. Beurskens and Jennie L. Rowan Warner. Irene worked at Sinclair Pipe Line Company until her marriage to James A. Blundell on March 10, 1950 in Paul Valley, Oklahoma. The two made their home in Independence until moving to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1966. They returned to Independence in 1987, soon after her husband James retired from Arco Pipe Line. Irene loved to do crossword puzzles and word finds, read books and play scrabble, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family especially, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Jennie Beurskens, husband, James Blundell, brothers, Joe, William, Frank, and Carl Beurskens, sisters, Louise Simons, and Elizabeth “Libby” Beurskens.
Irene’s memory will carry on with her son, Mark (Debbie) Blundell of Broken Arrow, OK, daughters, Kristen (Fred) Mitchell of Ponte Vedra, FL, Elizabeth (Tom) Woodard of Chickasha, OK, and Greta (Kenny) Moore of Kingwood, TX, grandchildren, James Mitchell, Zach Moore, Phillip Blundell, Tanner Moore, Sam Moore, Brad Woodard, Christian Woodard, Ganesa Guillette, Lauren Peppers, and Stephanie Mitchell, 21 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
