James (Jimmy) Bowman Jordan, 77, of Elk City, Kansas passed away on September 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. He was born February 22, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas to Violet (Suttee) Jordan and was later adopted into the Paul and Violet Fowler union in 1947. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14th at 10:00 am at Webb & Rodrick Chapel & Crematory in Independence, Kansas with the burial at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. Pastor Randy Beeman of the Elk City Christian Church will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, September 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. There will be a dinner at the Elk City Christian Church following the services.
Jimmy was a heavy-duty equipment operator in Dallas, TX for All Hands & Riley, moving to Wichita in 1970. There he worked for Foley Tractor as a mechanic. On June 9, 1962, he married Jo Ann Melton in Dallas, TX and she proceeded him in death in 1981. To this union was born a daughter, Diannia Jean who survives at home. He was also a Caterpillar mechanic for several different companies until his retirement from Beachner Construction in 2010. Jimmy attended the Elk City Christian Church.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Violet Fowler and wife Jo Ann. Survivors include 6 brothers: Newell Jordan of Moline, KS, Tommy Jordan of West Virginia, Patrick, Aray, Tony & E.R. Fowler, all of Elk City and one sister, Paula Fowler of Elk City.
Memorial donations can be made in James' name to the American Cancer society.
