Janice Murphy

Janice K. Murphy, 67, Independence, Kansas formally of Caney, KS passed away on December 21, 2022 at Montgomery Place in Independence, KS. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. On Friday, December 30, 2022 at Elcato Cemetery.

Janice was born October 7, 1955 in Caney, KS to Claude and Mary (Finney) Dufoe. The family moved to Nampa, ID where Janice attended and graduated high school. She married Mike Murphy in 1976 at Nampa, ID. The couple moved to Caney in 1984 where Janice was employed at Pizza Hut for three years before going to work at the Gunny Sack where she was employed for 25 years before her health forced her to retire.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Jim Dufoe and one sister Juanita Simpson. Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Russel Murphy, Salina, OK; Benjamin Murphy, Cherryvale, KS; two daughters, Sarah Murphy, Parsons, KS; Rebekah (Chris) Burke, Titusville, FL; five brothers, five sisters, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
