J.C. Smith

J. C. Smith Jr. 49, Independence, Kansas passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Labette Health of Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service for J. C. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July, 21, 2017 at Class LTD Service Center, 2801 West Main, and Independence, Kansas. A second Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Little Flock Baptist Church, South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory to assist the family with funeral expenses.
J. C. was born March 24, 1968 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to J. C. Smith Sr. and Iris Starr. J. C. attended Coffeyville Schools and became associated with Class LTD in Independence, Kansas in 1992. J. C. worked at Great Western Dining, at I.C.C., Sonic, U.S.D. 446 Board Office, Sunshine Energy, and Class LTD Independence Kansas Service Center until his death. J. C. will be remembered by his warm and contagious smile and the way he made funny faces. J. C. was an avid rap music and Tupac fan he also enjoyed watching his favorite television shows which include anything to do with Martial Arts, Jackie Chan, Walker Texas Ranger and the Jerry Springer Show.
Jay C. was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Kevin Maurice Smith. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Iris and Manuel Anderson, Coffeyville, Kansas; his grandfather, James Walton, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his best friend Dorothy Patry and husband Dennis, Independence, Kansas; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and his pet goat, Bruce Lee.
Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
