Jean Marie Lesslie

Jean Marie (Newmaster) Lesslie passed away on February 20th, 2025, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, KS. Visitation will be February 23, 2025, from 2-4 PM and a Celebration of Life Services will be held February 24th, 2025 at 2 PM at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel in Independence, KS.

 Jean was born in Independence, KS on September 9th, 1934, to Fred L. and Lucile H. (Connor) Newmaster. She attended various Montgomery County schools. Jean and Wilbur F. Lesslie were married on August 17th, 1951, in Independence. Two children were born to the union, a son Fred M. Lesslie and a daughter, Teddi Anne Malloy. 

 Jean had various jobs including a homemaker, school bus driver and an accountant for Westervelt, Carson and Miller before retiring. She was an avid reader, piano player, genealogist and gardener. Known for her quick wit, a laugh and a smile. Jean loved entertaining her grandkids with her many stories. She was the best storyteller. 

 Preceding Jean in death are her parents, Fred and Lucile Newmaster, brothers Lowell, Paul and Lloyd Newmaster, husband Wilbur, and daughter Teddi Anne.

 Surviving are her son Fred and wife Kellie Lesslie of Muldrow, OK; granddaughters Jennifer Rosson of Niotaze, KS and Amanda Mitchell and fiancé Dwayne Tucker of Independence, KS; grandsons Seth and wife Calley Malloy of Shawnee, KS; Matthew Lesslie of Muldrow, OK; Morgan and wife Lainee Lesslie of Roland, OK; Mason Lesslie and fiancée Grace Bartell of Branson, MO; great-grandchildren Jenna and Johnna Rosson of Niotaze, KS; Zoë, Devon and Patrick Mitchell of Independence, KS; Felix and Teddy Arlo Malloy of Shawnee, KS; Hadlee, Harlow and Hazel Lesslie of Roland, OK; great-great grandson Oliver Mitchell; Mike and Sharon Lesslie and many more family and friends.
