Jerry Plumley

Jerry P. Plumley, 81, Independence, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Medicalodges in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Webb u0026 Rodrick Chapel and Crematory with the family greeting visitors from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the chapel.



Jerry was born in Cherryvale, Kansas to Bud and Marie Plumley. Jerry attended and graduated from Cherryvale, Kansas Schools. Following his education Jerry was employed by local farmers as a farm hand. Jerry later found employment with Montgomery County Bridge and Maintenance Crew for several years. Jerry later become employed by Halliburton in Coffeyville, Kansas until 1980 and farmed the homestead jerry was employed by Grandview in Parsons, Kansas from 1993 until 2003 and went back to farming until he sold the farm and retired and moved to Independence in 2005. In 2005 Jerry met Dorothy Sumner in the lobby of Penn Terrace apartments and the couple married one year later and have been inseparable every day until the passing of Dorothy on January 16, 2015.

Jerry's three biggest loves in his life were Dorothy, farming and fishing. Jerry never met a stranger and enjoyed helping and taking care of others.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Steven, Larry and one sister Gretchen. Those left to cherish his memory include stepson David Lindsay and wife Sherry, 5 grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters-in-law Dareda Plumley, Mary Jo King, Darren (Rebecca) Plumley, Scott Plumley, Carrie Jones.
