Joe R. Weston

Joe R. Weston, 93, Independence, Kansas passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. The family will greet visitors from 10:00 a.m., until service time On Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the chapel.

Joe was born July 8, 1930, in Yates Center, Kansas to Mitchell and Alice (Williams) Weston. At a young age Joe and his family moved to Independence, Kansas where he attended school. Following his education Joe enlisted in the Unites States Air Force serving for 20 years, after his retirement from the Air Force Joe was employed by IBP Beef Processing plant in Emporia, Kansas for eight years before moving back home. After moving back home to Independence, Kansas Joe was employed by Builders Lumber and Supply and helped Ernie Wendt on his farm before retiring again. Joe was a life member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.  Joe loved animals and spent much of his time gardening, fishing, and taking care of his hobby farm full of all kinds of animals.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joseph Whitehead, two brothers, George and David Weston. Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Phillip Weston, Independence, Kansas; one daughter, Donna Niece, Hot Springs, Arkansas; and one sister, Lucille Watson, Roanoke, Virginia.
