Kenneth Lee Gibson

Kenneth Lee Gibson passed away peacefully at his home in Independence, on August 18, 2023, at the age of 87. Graveside services will be on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at Mt. Hope Cemetery at 10:00am.

Kenneth was born on December 7, 1935, in Mulvane, Kansas to Clarence Gibson and Lucille (Koontz) Gibson. Eventually, the family made their home in Independence, Kansas. Kenneth graduated from Independence High School. He married Mary Louise Bustos in February of 1956. and together they had 6 children. Kenneth worked for the Combined Insurance Company of America for 25 years. He is survived by his two Brothers: Charles "Sonny" Gibson, Alexandria, LA.; Lonnie Wayne Gibson, Shepherd, Texas; one son Stephen B. Gibson of Independence, Kansas; three daughters: Deanna L. Phillips of Virginia Beach, VA; Janet L. Gibson of Grand Island, NE; and Ann Marie Clark of Independence, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Mary, two sons: John Curtis Gibson and Douglas Vincent Gibson and one great granddaughter Brandy Lynn Price.
