Lary Dale Wolverton, 52, Pittsburg, Kansas, formerly of Independence, Kansas passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at The First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Darren Melton officiating, burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 25 at the chapel, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics and may be left with the chapel.
Lary was born April 20, 1962 in Sedan, Kansas to Lowell Dale and Lola E. (Cargile) Wolverton. Lary attended and graduated from Altoona-Midway High School. He was employed at the Mosaic Work Center and enjoyed W.W.E Wrestling, music and loved life and people. Lary was also very active in Special Olympics, his team won the 1988 state title in Basketball and had received his green belt in Taekwondo from Neodesha Martial Arts and was very proud of his accomplishment.
Lary was preceded in death by his parents, survivors include his step-father: James W. Green Jr. Galesburg, KS, three brothers: Lynn Wolverton and companion Judy Joyce, Wichita, KS, Lance Wolverton, Independence, KS, Leslie Wolverton, Branson, MO, one sister: Lora Banning and husband C. Roger Banning, Independence, KS, and many nieces , nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
