Leann Nelson

LeAnn Lucille Yoakum Nelson age 46, of Independence, KS passed away February 1, 2015 at Mercy Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 13th at First United Methodist Church. The family suggests memorials be made to Ronald McDonald House or Donors Choice and may be sent to the Chapel
LeAnn was born April 3, 1968 in Wichita to Lee and Jan (Burt) Yoakum. She was raised in Independence and attended and graduated from Independence High School in 1986. LeAnn was joined in matrimony to Aaron Nelson on October 29, 2007 in Miami, OK. LeAnn is a life-long member of the Independence First United Methodist Church. She has been the Social Services and Activates Director for Medicalodges of Independence for 10 plus years.
Left behind to honor LeAnn's memory is her husband, Aaron of the home, parents Lee and Jan Yoakum of Independence, In-laws, Buddy and Jeanne Nelson of Cherryvale, step-son Levi Nelson of Neodesha, step-daughter Jessica Collins of Cherryvale, brother Kenny (Lisa) Yoakum of Arma, and sister Lori Yoakum of Independence, 2 nieces: Jordan Yoakum and Jessica (Eli) Anderson, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. LeAnn was preceded in death by her brother, Jay Yoakum
