August 26, 1926 — November 5, 2016

Leo J. Landwehr, 90, Chetopa, Kansas, formerly of Independence, Kansas passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Freeman Health Systems, Joplin Missouri. Graveside services for Leo will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 10th, 2016 at the Calvary Cemetery, Independence, Kansas. The rosary will be recited Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory, Independence, Kansas. Memorials in memory of Leo may be made to Ronald McDonald House 2502 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64108 or may be left with the chapel.
Leo was born August 26, 1926 in St. Marks, Kansas to Ben and Anna (Zoglmann) Landwehr. Leo married, Roberta Jean Van Houden, on January 15, 1951 and born to this union was one son and five daughters. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, 1951-1953. Leo was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and 30 year member of American Legion. He spent 36 years working with Union Gas and retired in 1988.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roberta; brothers, Ed Landwehr, Robert Landwehr, Leonard Landwehr; and sisters, Elenore Lane, Alice Powers, Bertha Brezele, and Martina Watts.
Leo is survived by children: Russell, Carolyn, June, Janet, Bonnie, Elaine; sisters, Johanna, Jean and husband Larry; sister-in-law, Ruth; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
