Linda Marlene Hudiburg

July 18, 1939 — November 22, 2023

Linda Marlene Hudiburg (Lewis)

Born in Elk City, Kansas, July 18 1939, to Chester Arthur Lewis and Theo May Lewis (Keith).

Quietly left this world November 22, 2023.

Linda graduated from Independence High School in 1957. In 1959, Linda married Walter F. Hudiburg Jr. and set off to live the life of a Marine’s wife. A job she was proud to have and excelled at. She was often referred to as “The Hostess with the Mostest”. She loved to entertain, cook, and bake. Anyone and everyone were always welcome in her home for coffee, cake, meals, and laughter. She was quick witted and had a beautiful smile. Linda and Walter amicably divorced in 1979 while living in Colorado.

Linda remained in Colorado. She married Louis Bloomquist and worked as a Dental Assistant for over 25 years. Together, she and Louie traveled and camped extensively throughout the Colorado area with their many camp club friends. Linda and Louis belonged to a tight knit community and were considered the Grandparents of their neighborhood. They entertained and had many block parties, a specialty of Linda’s. Louis passed away in 2006.

In 2012 after both Linda and Walt lost their spouses, Walt brought Linda back to Independence where it all began. They remarried on their original wedding date of February 7, 2013, and spent the remainder of their days together.

Linda is survived by her 3 children, Dana Conley of Independence, Joleen Medford of Denver, TN, and Walter Hudiburg III (Christi) of Chuluota, FL, her baby sister Janice Ballenger (Pete) of Lawrence, KS, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by husbands Walter F. Hudiburg and Louis Bloomquist, siblings Maryland Gibson, Maurita Miller, Erma Tattershaw, and Kirk A. Lewis (Gloria) of Neodesha, KS.

Webb and Rodrick Chapel & Crematory handled final arrangements.

Linda will be interred on October 18, 2024, at the Longton Cemetery alongside her Mother Theo.
