Lloyd Eugene (Gene) Allen passed away on February 5, 2025 at the age of 86 in Independence, Kansas. 

 Gene was born February 11, 1938 in Downey, CA to Raymond & Vesta (Myers) Allen. He was the 5th child of 6 children. He had one sister Donna Johnson, and four brothers Robert, Ed, Bill and Richard. In 1941 the family of eight moved to Ashland, OR when Gene was 2 years old. After high school Gene went to work with his friend Joe Durer at the local sawmill. 

 On August 10, 1956 Gene married Louise Jane Palmer in Ashland. They were married for 52 years until cancer complications caused Jane's death on November 4, 2008. Gene and Jane had 3 children, Cheri (Wayne) Allen Benfield, Independence, KS, Bill (Donna) Orangevale, CA, Dave (Lisa) Durham, NC. Gene has seven grandchildren, Andy Benfield, Steve Benfield, Mackenzie (Greg) Olson, Vincent (Claire) Allen, Madison (Jacob) White, Travis Allen, & Ashley Benfield and one great granddaughter, Cody White. 

 In 1962 the family moved to Federal Way, WA where Gene worked for Boeing. In 1969 the family moved to Port Angeles, WA where he was employed as superintendent at Merrill & Ring sawmill. The family enjoyed their farm with milk cows, beef cattle, pigs, chickens, horses and rabbits. They had a large garden along with several apple & cherry trees. 

 In 1985 Gene and Jane moved to Redding, CA where Gene worked in a sawmill. In 1991 they moved to Gravette, Arkansas where they had a farm raising black angus cattle. Gene was very active in church work as a board member, Sunday School Superintendent, and song leader. They enjoyed having family and friends to the farm for hog roasts, picnics, games and fellowship.

 In March of 2011, Gene moved back to Eagle Point, Oregon to be near his life long friends and his siblings. He lived in Eagle Point for 13 years until July 2024 when he moved to be near his daughter Cheri in Independence Kansas. 

 Gene is preceded in death by both his parents, all five of his siblings, his wife Jane, son-in-law Wayne, and grandson Steve. Gene has been laid to rest with his wife Jane at Bethel cemetery in Gravette, Arkansas.
