Louella Gossen

Louella Mae Gossen, age 91 of Independence, KS passed away Friday, May 17, 2019. She entered this life December 8, 1927 near Fairview, OK, the daughter of Dietrich and Anna (Janzen) Thiessen. She attended school and graduated from Owasso, OK public schools. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Gene Gossen, on November 6, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1987. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home of Independence, KS.
Bob and Lou lived near Vera, Ok and operated a dairy farm until 1970. After moving to Independence, KS they became Shaklee Distributors rising to the rank of Master Coordinators. Lou maintained the business until the age of 84 when she retired to Penn Terrace Apartments.
During this time, she remained active with the First Church of the Nazarene, volunteering in the clothes and food pantry.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by one brother, Carl Thiessen from Verdigris, OK; son Roger (Jodi) Gossen, Kremlin, OK; son Larry (Fay) Gossen, Springfield, MO; daughter Shelly (Don) Puryear, Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Independence, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Mexican Mission Ministries or First Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry in care of Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home.
