Mabel Irene Rowe, 96, Independence, Kansas passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Medicalodges in Independence, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 8 at The First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Darren Melton, of the church, officiating. A burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. Friends may sign the register on Monday from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Webb and Rodrick Chapel and Crematory, Independence, KS. Family will also be receiving visitors from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials in memory of Mabel may be made to The First Church of the Nazarene and may be left with the chapel.
Mabel was born September 10, 1920 in Grenola, Kansas to Elmer and Claudia (McCauley) Meek. She attended rural Elk County Schools. Mabel married Willis Rowe, in Elk City, Kansas. Mabel was employed by Electra and ACC for over 30 years until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Mabel was a lifetime active member of The First Church of The Nazarene and will be remembered as a very caring and hard working woman.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis; and a great-granddaughter, Angelina Zambrano.
Mabel is survived by two sons: Eddie Rowe of St. Ann, Missouri; Michael and wife Cynthia Rowe of Independence, Kansas; Vernetta Buchannan of Independence, Kansas; two daughters, Linda and husband Larry House of Claremore, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: David, Gary, Shelley, Kesha, Micah, Jenifer, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
