Margie Christina Post, 77, of Independence, Kansas, died Sunday, September 20th at Medicalodges, Independence. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 29th at 10:00 a.m., at the Altoona Cemetery in Altoona, KS. A family visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th from 6:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Margie was born June 19, 1938 in Burlington, Wyoming to Simon Jordan and Mattie (Devendorf) Jordan. She grew up in Wyoming before relocating to Oklahoma in 1954. She met and married Theodore "Teddy" DeWitt of Neodesha, Kansas in 1959. They divorced in 1974.
She married Basil Post in 1974. The couple made their home in Independence until Basil's retirement at which time they relocated to Chanute, Kansas. Margie was a homemaker most of her life with one of her main hobbies being genealogy research. During the winter months, they enjoyed trips to Florida in their camper to visit family. In recent years, the couple had moved back to Independence and remained married until his death in 2013. They were married 39 years.
Survivors include a son, Danny DeWitt and wife Sandy of Osceola, Missouri, step-daughters Dixie Smith and her husband Terryl of Parsons, Kansas, Linda Vasquez and her husband Jimmy, of Sarasota, Florida, and Judy Glisson and her husband Herman of Ellenton, Florida. Also surviving Margie are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Basil Post, her parents Simon and Mattie Jordan, Brothers, Harvey Jordan, Claudy "Virgil" Jordan, Casey Ray Jordan, Ebert "Claucine" Jordan, Carl "Gene" Jordan and sisters Camilla "Frances" Jordan and Mamie "Elizabeth" Jordan (died at birth).
Webb and Rodrick Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
