Marie Bevans, 106, Independence, Kansas passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Gansel House in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Marie was born September 15, 1909 to Walter and Ersie Forde of Albion, Montana. They lived on a sheep ranch and she attended grade school there. She moved to Belle Fourche, South Dakota and graduated from Belle Fourche High School, she then graduated from Spearfish Normal College in Spearfish, South Dakota.
In 1931 Marie was married to Fred Bevans and they made their home in Belle Fourche. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Tri State Milling Company for over 24 years.
Marie was an active member of the Congregational church and their circle. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and numerous bridge clubs.
Marie was preceded in death by a son Kenneth in 1956 and her husband in 1995. In 1997 Marie moved to Independence, to be near her daughter and family. She is survived by her daughter, Vava and husband Steve Sayers; granddaughters, Jacalyn, Romy and Nicole; and three great grandsons, Rylan, Nick and Luke.
