Mary A. Hefren, age 99, of Bel Aire, KS, formerly of Cherryvale, KS, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, KS. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale with burial immediately following at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. The family requests memorials to the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters they may be left at Webb Rodrick Chapel.
Mary was born in Cherryvale, KS on November 10, 1914, the daughter of Peter and Ida Miller Hefren. She attended Cherryvale schools until moving to Independence where she graduated from Independence High School. She began her career at Mercy Hospital in Independence she then worked for various places for the U.S. Civil Service and retired in St. Louis, MO.
She is survived by 5 nieces and 3 nephews, as well as a GodDaughter, Mary Lisa Duncan. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Bud, Joe and Fred Hefren and 2 sisters Marguerite and Frances Hefren.
