Mary Jane Colean passed away peacefully on November 21,2020 two months shy of her 100th birthday. Services have been entrusted with Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Webb Rodrick Chapel with the Pastor John Wilson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas under the direction of the Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Mary Jane grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas where she met and married her husband of 70 years, Lyle Colean, who preceded her in death. Together, living in Colorado, they raised three children and partnered in growing successful businesses. Retiring in Independence, Kansas Mary Jane and Lyle were
instrumental in the formation of AWOL Animal Shelter where they devoted many hours. Mary Jane was active in the hospital auxiliary, loved to play bridge, travel, dance, and “neighbor” from her Woodland View home. She had a beautiful singing voice and was very proud that she could stand on her head well into her later years.
Mary Jane is survived by her children Cynthia Colean of California, Chris Colean of Colorado, and Mike (Merrie) Colean of New Jersey. Six grandchildren, Lisa, Toni, Amy, Adam, Ryan, and Henry; six great grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren, Sara, Tim, Jake, and Kate and six great great grandchildren Emma, Carter, Abby, Blake, and Whitaker also survive.
She leaves behind close family friend Steve English and her two devoted care companions Helen Wilms and Teri Pope.
