Mary "Diane" Lovett, 76, of Independence, Kansas, passed away at Eagle Estates on Monday, August 23, 2021. Graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas on Tuesday, August 31st at 10:00 am.
Diane was born on August 20, 1945 in Independence, Kansas to Virtes and Madeline (Wadman) Tweedie. Growing up in Independence, Diane attended the Independence school system, graduating from Independence High School in 1963. She was very active in all the Neewollah festivities from being a Neelah deb, Queen contestant, and numerous Neewollah committees. Diane worked for the State of Kansas Auto Tag Office, in Topeka and Independence. She married Larry Lovett on August 26, 1971, they later divorced. She retired from the Independence Auto Tag office in 2012. She was a member of the Independence Country Club, Spicey, Dicey Bunco Group, Women JC’s in the late 70’s and The Episcopal Church. After retirement she met with her friends each Thursday for lunch.
Diane was cared for in her final years by the loving caregivers at Eagle Estates.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, VL and Madeline Tweedie.
She is survived by her brother David Tweedie, Somerville, AL, stepson, Shawn Lovett, TX, nephew Alan Tweedie and wife Cynthia of Somerville, AL, great nieces and nephews, Alan Jr, Jessie, Blake, Landon, Alyson and husband Jonathan and Aden, of Somerville, AL.
