Mary Mazzone

Mary A Mazzone, age 89, of Independence, Kansas, died Friday, March 06, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Independence.
Mary was born the daughter of Michael and Helen (Kaptur) Krol in Harvey Illinois. She grew up in Harvey and attended school there.
Following the death of her father when she was 9 years old, she worked in the nearby onion fields to help support her family; and from the age of 17, following the death of their mother, Mary raised her 2 younger brothers.
She married Nick Mazzone on May 14, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, where they made their home until moving to Harvey. Nick preceded Mary in death April 20, 1985.
Mary was a caring and generous person and many people were touched by her kind heart.
She is survived by one daughter Michaeline Mazzone of Independence; one son, Paul Mazzone of Kalamazoo Michigan; 2 grandsons, Jason Henry of Kellyville, Oklahoma, and Eric Mazzone of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christen burial and inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois, will take place at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Webb and Rodrick Chapel and Crematory.
