Melony Anne (Meier) Anderson, 69, Independence, Kansas passed away at home on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Melony was born March 16, 1953, in Shippenville, PA, to Leonard G. and Georgia M. (Claypool) Meier. She attended local schools. At the age of 18 Melony married Michael E. Anderson on December 31, 1971, in Clarion, PA and the couple made their home in Wichita, KS; where she was employed as a waitress. The couple then moved to Chanute, KS; and Pittsburg, KS; and finally made their home in Independence, KS; in 1981. Melony was employed by Emerson Electric and many other local factories before she retired.
Melony will be remembered as the best Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She enjoyed reading Steven King novels, working on puzzles with her family, playing Bingo, going to the Casino, and watching Pittsburgh Steelers football. Melony was a family-oriented person who would gather with her family every Sunday for “family-bonding-time” and a homemade dinner.
Melony was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dennis and Steven Meier, and one sister, Karen Merryman. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years Michael of the home, one son Michael II also of the home, Three daughters, Kimberly (John) Hamlin, Independence, KS; Charisse Wolfe, Independence, KS; Ashley (Nicholas) Smith, Coffeyville, KS; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Meagan, Anthony, Evan, Lilian, Logan, and Tucker; five great-grandchildren, Collin, Owen, Tatum, Johnathon, and Eden. She is also survived by her sister Carol (Bob) Lewis, and her best friend of 60 years Aunt Jan (Norm) Olsen. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and her fur baby Sadie.
In Lieu of flowers, all memorials can be made to Charisse Wolfe for funeral expenses and further care of Michael Anderson, or to the funeral home.
