Morris "Dick"R. Monfort, 87, of Independence, Kansas passed away on January 20, 2019 in Yuma, Arizona. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Memorials may be made to AWOL and may be left with the chapel.
Dick was born September 19, 1931 in Eureka, Kansas to Morris E. and Ruby (Adams) Monfort. Following High School, Dick was employed in the Oil Field in Western Kansas then drafted into the Korean War. After the Korean War, Dick moved to Wichita, Kansas. He later moved to Independence, Kansas in 1971 and founded Star-Foam Inc. Dick owned and operated the business until 1998. He then retired and moved to Grand Lake, Oklahoma. Dick enjoyed the lake life and fishing he also enjoyed vacationing in Yuma, Arizona.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Morris "Rick" R. Monfort Jr. and one sister, Frances Dalton. Survivors include his wife of 37 years Carolyn Monfort of the home, one son Christopher A. Monfort, Afton, Oklahoma; Barbara E. (Tom) Montgomery, Wichita, Kansas; Susan K. (Kenny) Greenawaly, Independence, Kansas; Kimberly K. (Kevin) Wilson, Independence, Kansas; Amandia l. (Mark) Brock, Independence, Kansas; Patricia Bell, Brush, Colorado; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
