Olive Delight Taylor, 87, passed away at Labette Health in Independence, Kansas on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022.
Olive was born in Welda, Kansas to Daniel and Gladys (Rew) Hoffmeier on February 13, 1934. After graduating from Humboldt High School, she moved to Topeka and worked at an insurance company. On April 10, 1960, she married Charles “Albert” Taylor in Topeka, Kansas. The two moved to Cherryvale for about a year before making their permanent home in Independence. Olive worked for a few years at Sears until finding her career at the Montgomery County Tag Office, where she later retired. Olive loved to work on embroidery, quilting, and read various books. Olive was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene since 1979.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Gladys Hoffmeier, and sisters, Luella Hiesler, Patty Mueller, and Marjorie McCready.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Charles “Albert” Taylor, son, David and wife Carolyn Taylor of Bartlesville, OK, daughters, Teresa Taylor of Neodesha, KS, and Grace and husband Jerry Kemp of Lewisville, TX, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene in Independence, KS on Wednesday, February 9th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Olive’s name to the First Church of the Nazarene.
